A new tour for 2011 from Regent Holidays will give intrepid travellers the chance to visit the little known but fascinating de-facto independent republic of Nagorno Karabakh, which was born out of the former Soviet territories of Azerbaijan and Armenia and the war of 1988 – 1994.
Today, it is essentially tied to Armenia – only being accessible from Armenia’s capital, Yerevan – but it is still officially an independent republic (despite the fact that it is only recognised as such by the breakaway state of Transdinistr in Moldova).
This hardly visited tourist destination is safe and rich in historical wealth and stunning natural beauty. The new 8 day tour will depart on 31st August 2011 and will be limited to just fourteen participants. It will take in the must see highlights of Nagorno Karabakh and also include sites in Armenia on the journey to and from Yerevan.
By using bmi flights from Manchester to Yerevan via London, Regent have been able to reduce the cost of the tour by £200 per person, which means that the price will start from £1085 when flying from Manchester, but from £1285 when flying from London. The price includes most meals, transport, accommodation and guiding.
